Farewell!

Some of you may have heard, some have not. I have resigned from Colorado Music Buzz after three years. I felt it was time for me to move on and use my free time to try some new projects, and ultimately better the Colorado Hip Hop community. I will be working with many people in efforts to bring some national light to the Hip Hop in Colorado, and I will still be around, so feel free to hit me up anytime.

Also, I have recently been recruited to be on the Westword Backbeat team, so you can continue to read my work there. Check out my first piece on Shortbus, with an interview with Schmeeze.

There are no hard feelings with CMB, they gave me the shot, and they believed in me, and Co Hip Hop, so please continue to show your support. Miss Marissa will be doing her part holding down Hip Hop in CMB, so please, give her the same love and respect you have always shown me.

Mad love to you all!

Nicole

Dreaming on Chrome *Show and Shine* Car Show at Thornton Rec. Center Fields

Is there anything better to do with a Saturday in Denver than spending it outside looking at some tight cars? I think not. The lovely Diedre, also known as G Rhae, is the President of the Casuals Crew and was kind enough to give us an overview of their exciting event this Saturday at the Thornton Rec. Center fields:

"We would like to introduce you to the Casuals Car Club of Denver. We are a family oriented car club that was originated back in 1966, and has stayed small but strong ever since. Over the last two years however, we have really looked at the foundation of our beginning and decided to build our membership, based on our strengths of pride, unity, and most importantly family. We have seen our growth in both number of members and and in our vision of being a positive entity in our community. This year we have decided to expand our efforts and put together a local car show, with the main focus of providing a positive, entertaining, and ultimately a traditional event for our family, friends, and local businesses of our community. This show is for anyone who appreciates the hard work and dedication it takes to put together a car, truck, or bike. We feature several makes, models and years. Along with the cars, we provide great live music, food/beverage vendors as well as local business merchandise vendors. Our entertainment this year consists of Colorado Casuals, 2012 ft. Spoke In Wordz, 3 The Hard Way, and Naadz, and mixes by DJ Blitz, along with some special surprises. The spectators of our show will enjoy all the music and vehicles, as well as have the opportunity to purchase merchandise and services from local businesses. We would not be able to put on such a show if it weren't for out many sponsors, who have been amazing and we would like to thank them very much. Our goal is to supply our community with our vision of family and positivity, as well as our love for cars. We look forward to producing an amazing show year after year, and have Casuals CC of Denver become a household name."

I hope to see all of you there! Oh yeah, and guess what? It's FREE!

Universe Juice 6/5-6/6 11am-9pm Exdo Event Center (3500 Walnut St. Denver)

I don't know if y'all watch graff videos, but it is one of my favorite things. Rarely do us non-writers get to actually watch a piece come together; it's usually done stealthly, at night, or in the shadows. But in videos, we get to see it start from almost nothing, and turn into art right before our eyes. In Denver, this weekend, a graff video will be made, but that's far from all.

Talented writers such as: Jive, Reps, East, Reks, Dread, Emit, Scribe, Jolt, Jher, Ouiji, Gamma and the BTR crew will be using over 400 cans and two days to paint a huge mural. To inspire and accompany these artists will be an eclectic representation of Colorado Hip Hop, with live performances by: FOE, Fresh Breath Committee, The Littleague, Manifest & Arkhightek, Denver Massive, Microphone Jones, Mike Wird with DJedi Flowerz, The Reminders, Ace Miyamoto, Main Course, DJ Cavem, Nofrendo with J.Reed, Panama, Path One, Soda Pop Heads, Spellbinder, Strange Powers, 420Chronic Addicts, Lunalilo Di Vinci, Turner Jackson, Xperiment, Whygee with DJ BrikaBrak. And the DJs: Stretch, Unison, Lazy Eyez, Vajra, MU$A, Selector Sam, and Puffah Brown.

Of course the Breakers will be taking advantage of these amazing sounds, with a 1 on 1 battle, 2 on 2 Bonnie and Clyde, and Popping contests with cash prizes. The whole event will be held together by Host extraordinaire Dent.

This is an all ages event and will be the first official celebration of summer. Come watch and be a part of history being made. I also hear that the final video will have a score by Denver's own SELKO.

B.O.B. and Lupe at the Ogden

B.O.B killed the opening spot for the "Steppin Laser" tour stop at the Ogden last night. Did you know he could play the guitar? (I didn't) He had a full band and good energy, keeping the crowd involved with his hit "Nothin' On you," and my favorite "Satellite."
Lupe came out like a rock star and put in a good show. He was less engaging, but the crowd was chanting his name all night, so I'm pretty sure they didn't mind.
Overall show grade B+.
Now ya know
