If HipHop is poetry to music...
Went to the Cafe Nuba (http://www.cafenuba.com/) slam at Denver Library last night, if you don't know about slam and it's roots or how it's connected to HH, check it out.
(key words- Saul Williams, Slam the movie,poetryslam.com)
Denver is big on the slam scene and has some big names makin moves out of Nuba.
Slam, like any other written verse, is about self expression and making a statement. Hip Hop is poetry to music and slam is poetry to the beat of the human heart.
Saul is comin back to the CO in November at the Fox- his music is a little crazy, but check dude out- he is by far the dopest visionary in the field.

What's Good CO?!
Make sure to check us out on the official CMB Web site, lots of good Hip Hop posted in the archives.
My first post is goin out to the subject of my very first story with CMB, Chaz Miles. He is a Fort Collins resident (originally from PTown) and has become one of my dearest friends. Chaz is strictly on that worship tip, but he puts lovin God to a beat and a sound that's soulful and Hip Hop all at the same time.
That said, he has a worship CD out right now called Iasis (http://www.iasis.org/) that is DOPE. It's a real mix of music and out and out talent (I sing on one of the tracks) and if you are lookin for somethin that hits harder than your grandmama's hymns it's worth checkin out for sure.
Chaz is currently in the lab workin to put out his second solo project, "The Difference," expected in early 2010.

She graduated from CSU and now plays with kids for a living. Marissa is also a fan of writing and performing poetry, the Denver Nuggets, tattoos, high heels and argyle.
Xencs L. Wing (graphics contributor)~Miss Wing is beyond well-rounded, talent-wise. Artist, MC and graphic/web designer she inspires us all with her skills and kind soul. Check out her myspace.
